Essential Oils for Inflammation Bloom in Clean

3 Essential Oils for Inflammatory Response

Check out Grady’s eye on Friday.  I was so torn what to do.  Do I take him in to the doctor and expose him to other, not so ideal viruses right now, or try something else.  Quite honestly, going to the doctor right now might not be the most safe thing to do.

What is a concerned mom to do?

Me posting this picture on social media alerted many caring people and offered 0 suggestions, some just offered concern as to what we were going to do or not do. Benadryl came to the minds of many concerned people.

Can I just tell you I am kind of a black sheep?

Our kids have never been on antibiotics and I can count on one hand how many times they have taken over the counter meds in their almost 13 and 11 years.

Why might you ask?

Well, I will tell you if you want.

I remember back when our son was around 2 and our daughter was about 6 months old and we were headed on a flight to California from Maine.  I was traveling solo with the kids and was very nervous.  A family member who is a doctor gave me a suggestion for our son.  She said, I should give him some Benadryl so he gets sleepy and relaxed on the plane.  If you know Grady, you know he has a lot of energy so iwas naturally nervous.

I listened and I took her up on that suggestion.  Do you think I gave this a trial run?  Smarter moms would have done that-I was not that smart.

Boy golly giving him benadryl was the wrong thing to do. He had the opposite reaction.  He was amped up and bounced off the seats for hours. Yes, I was definitely stressed and so were the people sitting near us.

This made me really nervous to ever give him any sort of over the counter meds again.  I wished and prayed that there was a more natural way to relax and support his body especially traveling or sitting still.

When I was growing up every time I was ill I was put on antibiotics and then I would get a rash or/and a yeast infection.  My immune system was shot from being on meds and I never felt great.

When I broke my back about 15 years ago, the pain I felt from the painkillers was far worse than my fractured back, so, I became accustomed to just riding out the pain. I didn’t really have any other choice.  I again prayed for a more natural solution.

Since I have previous experience in nursing, biology and anthropology I am familiar with how the body works and what taking antibiotics and pain meds does to our bodies. I know they are not all bad and if you need to take them please do so.

Just know they can leave the gut depleted of good bacteria along with wiping out the bad bacteria. Most antibiotics do not discriminate against other bacteria.

Did you know 70-80% of our immune system is stored in the digestive system?  Did you know that if we do not support our gut with proper nutrition and supplements we will most likely have negative side effects when we go on antibiotics?

For the first 4 years of our kids’ life , I just rode out the colds, allergies and digestive upset without getting them anything.  I knew of some herbs from my anthropological and biological background that would help so I focused on them, but I still yearned for an easier, better way, to support our family.

The FDA does not require that herbs or oils be tested for purity or potency and that kind of scared me.  Just another thing to worry about as a mom.  I wanted testing and purity, but did not know of any company that did that.

Then one day I was introduced to a lady named Bronwen from my neighbor Kellie.  Kellie was just getting to know what oils and wanted to introduce them to me.  Bronwen was a former lawyer that decided to change her profession to sharing essential oils along with personal development.  She found such relief from all of the natural solutions-she wanted to share it with everyone.  I thank the gods everyday for bringing both of these ladies into my life.

They both changed my life by introducing me to essential oils!  They empowered me to help my family naturally.  I learned how simple things like Lemon, Tea Tree, Peppermint and Oregano oil can powerfully help your immune system get back on track if you are suffering with congestion. Lavender and Serenity can calm your emotions and I REALLY needed that back then.

Once I learned that doTERRA tested every batch of oils for their purity and they supported clinical trials-I was sold-BIG TIME!

As a person with a science education and background I felt this was the company for me.  Not only did they source sustainably and indigenously they buy directly from growers all over the world.  Basically doTERRA sources where the plants have been grown for generations and they build up the communities the oils are coming from-building wells, schools and medical facilities.  I can totally support a company like that.

Not only that, essential oils have antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal properties.  They are food for our cells and give us support on a whole different level.  Essential oils even penetrate our cells and provide a healthy inflammatory and emotional response.

So why in the heck would I not try a natural solution, like essential oils, to support Grady’s naturally inflammatory response before I get him on synthetic antihistamines and antibiotics before we try a natural solution?

Now, mind you Grady does not really like having essential oils rubbed on him.  He is usually the only one in the house that gives me a hard time-so he is not an easy sell. I talked with him and asked him if he would like to go to the doctor to get a checkup or would he like to try some oils that could possibly help.

Grady did not want to go to the doctor.  He told me to make him up some oils and he would try that and take some supportive supplements.

So, I went to my favorite oil book “The Essential Life” https://www.oillife.com/products/essential-life-book-6th-edition?_pos=2&_sid=6503c0997&_ss=r and looked up eye swelling.

The book gave a few suggested oils: Helichrysum, Frankincense and Cypress.  I made a 10ml rollerball of 5 drops of each and filled up the rest with fractionated coconut oil. https://doterra.me/daizbiRr  I also read that I could support him with an internal seasonal softgel, named Triease. Triease is composed of Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint and works like a natural antihistamine.https://doterra.me/0LZVzyyf   So, that is exactly what I did.

Grady did not want the oils near his eye at first so I rolled it on the back of his neck, across his forehead and down his spine.  He took his daily via train, one softgel and of course took a pre/probiotic, named PB Assist Jr https://doterra.me/LgZHo9LX  (anytime we have any sickness we amp up the pre/probiotics to about three per day).  After that we applied the rollerball every hour. After 3 hours his eye was way less swollen and we were seeing some progress.

About 5 hours into the first day he let me apply the oil very carefully around his eyebrow, temple, under his eye and the bridge of his nose.  I did this by applying the rollerball to my finger then around his eye-making sure not to apply too much so it would go in the eye.  Getting oils in the eye hurts like a mutha!  I don’t recommend that!

This gave him so much relief it was very uplifting and relieving. He was so happy and less afraid of his swollen eye.  We have been continuing this protocol everyday since and look at his eye now.

I know some of you will think this is amazing and some will think it’s weird.  That is totally fine with me.  If you would have told me 10 years ago I would be able to support my family with certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils, I would have thought you were crazy too.

I share this experience with you because I want you to know there are alternatives that can empower you to support you and your family naturally.  Like I told most of you caring people out there that reached out-we prefer side benefits instead of negative side effects.

Now more than ever we really need to have oily and supplemental support.  The world is shifting and changing and we need to adapt.  I would be happy to have you on my oily team to help support you and give you natural solutions to empower.

When you join doTERRA you join a team!  I would love to have you a part of my oil team.  If you have any questions or need some oily support please reach out or join our Bloom in doTERRA Essential Oils.
